Slighted by the weak
Who surely must be jealous
These so-called “paleontologists”
Have grown so over-zealous.

They sit on gilded thrones
Casting proclamations from on high
“The Triceratops was docile.
It wouldn’t hurt a fly!”

“And the Ankylosaurus, surely
Was never known to brawl.
The Deinonychus most likely
Never hunted prey at all.”

“In fact, I think I’m right in saying
that all of them were quite
friendly and amenable.
Avoiding frays and fights.”

But oh, how the “scientist” would cower
If ever he was confronted
By the mighty jaws of the tyrant king
Whose teeth were quite un-blunted.

I’m sure his “theories” would change
After debate with a Tyrannosaur
And his postulations would fall apart
At the sound of its mighty roar.

OWLS!

Peering with predatory eyes for prey
Eerily eager for easy victims
Raking, ravenously into rodents with relish
Flying fearless through foe-filled forests
Enticing lady-owls with ethereal eyes
Calling crows callow cowards
Turnal-noc they tend toward

OWLS!
Who, they call WHO? Run inside–
Lest it be you.

Neil, Michael and Edwin
Three men of a kind
Who fought the great Moon battle
Of nineteen sixty-nine

The Moon King dared demand
Natural resources from the Earth
A boon he claimed befitting
A Moonman of noble birth

So Buzz and Neil touched down
That fateful July afternoon
And quietly planned an attack
Against the despotic king of the Moon

As Neil gently crept
Down the lunar module’s ladder
Buzz kept a keen eye
Ensuring nothing was the matter

The surface was deserted
The Moon King did not show
But a scan by Collins in the command module
Revealed a city deep below

So the three astronauts conferred
And came to a decision
A death ray would be delivered
With surgical precision

Collins sent the Moonbound astros
Schematics and directions
That would turn the country’s greatest symbol
Into the country’s greatest weapon

Once more to the surface
Neil and Buzz descended
Holding hope within their hearts
That the King’s reign would soon be ended

And calmly they planted the flag
Which triggered a mechanism in the pole
That sent a targeted death ray
To the waiting King below

Collins reported their success
The scans all came up blank
The Moon King now was gone
And Earth had Apollo 11 to thank

You are no more
Than a petulant child
There is great anger at your core
Beneath a demeanor so mild

But I will not yield,
My lust for power, insatiable
And I’m afraid the deflector shield
Is quite operational…
